The Mural by Pierre F.X. Igoa

After nearly two years of preparation and hard work, the mural was completed. Painted on 160 sq. ft. of specially-prepared canvas of the highest quality, stretched over assembled lumber stretcher bars, this mural is the perfect piece for only the most serious of art collectors.

The first two words of a well-known Basque song, "Haurrak Ikasazue" - "children learn" illustrate the importance of cultural preservation. The lyrics of the song echo the sentiment that the Basque people have for their culture. Speaking Basque is an important and vital part of the Basque culture. Equally as important are its traditions and the descendants of this isolated region continue to practice those traditions.

The goal of the mural titled Gure Sor Lekuaren Orhoitzapenetan (In Remembrance of Our Home Land) was to capture the way of Basque life: in our local festivals, our dances, our sports, our music, our story telling and our other artforms.
