Whenever a group of Basques get together and have a few glasses of wine, inevitably there will be a few songs sung. In every aspect of Basque life there is song and nothing reveals more about the Basques than his song. Starting in youth there is the Seaska (lullaby) and from that moment on the Basques and song walk hand in hand through life. There are songs about life in general, about work, play, love, and death. There are church hymns, wedding songs and finally funeral songs. Whether at play or at work, it seems that the Basque always has a musical verse on his mind or a song on his lips.
